Grab your popcorn and Milk Duds. This year, a few select Michigan sportsbooks are offering odds on the annual Academy Awards categories. Whether there’s slap-drama or no, the broadcast should be exciting, as Hollywood icons vie for hardware.
With odds from Michigan sportsbook apps, you’ll be able to toss a few dollars on the Best Picture or even wager on Cate Blanchett to win her third Oscar. The 95th Academy Awards will be broadcast live on ABC on Sunday, March 12, starting at 8 p.m. ET.
DraftKings and FanDuel are both offering odds on several of the awards categories for what is commonly known as the “Oscars.” The film Everything Everywhere All At Once, which had the courage to tackle the topics of the multiverse, generational conflict, and the IRS, is favored by those two Michigan sportsbooks to win Best Picture.
How to bet on the Oscars in Michigan
- On the FanDuel Michigan app, search for “Oscars” in the search field at the top of the website or your mobile app.
- To find odds on the Oscars in DraftKings Michigan, select the category “Academy Awards” under the “A to Z” listing on the menu.
Both DraftKings and FanDuel are listing odds for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor/Actress, Best Supporting Actors/Actress, Best Screenplay, and more.
Unlike sporting events, where typically a consensus exists between most sportsbooks on point spreads and moneylines, with non-sports awards events such the Oscars, it can be interesting to see how varied the odds can be.
For example, DraftKings Michigan lists Steven Spielberg at +600 to win Best Director for his work on the semi-autobiographical The Fabelmans, whereas FanDuel prices that bet at a heftier +850.
Can I Bet on the Oscars?
Not every sports betting app or retail sportsbook in Michigan is offering odds on the Academy Awards. We were unable to locate odds for the awards show on BetMGM nor Caesars, for example. You should contact a retail sportsbook or casino sportsbook location to see if they offer odds, before you plan a trip to place a wager on the Oscars.
